Working under Misty on the Design Systems team was one of the most formative experiences of my career. Among many other things she advocated for the creation of a robust design system as part of a major website redesign and replatforming effort—and she absolutely delivered. Even though it was her first time working on a system of this scale, you’d never know it. She approached the challenge like a seasoned expert, leading the development of a multi-platform, multi-library design system with a team upwards of roughly 13 designers, developers, and UX architects.
Misty is, in a word, brilliant. She’s one of those rare leaders who can easily span design, development, and business strategy, bringing deep knowledge and thoughtful perspective to every conversation. Her ability to juggle complex cross-functional needs, while keeping the team aligned and inspired, was incredible to witness. She served as a strong liaison between design and engineering, always translating needs and priorities with clarity and empathy.
Beyond her technical and strategic strengths, Misty had a huge impact on me personally. She’s the best mentor I’ve ever had—always generous with her knowledge, supportive when I needed guidance, and graceful in how she navigated even the trickiest office politics. I still draw on the lessons I learned from her daily, and her influence continues to shape the way I work and lead.
Misty is the kind of leader who elevates everything and everyone around her. Any team would be lucky to have her.

Lead User Experience Designer, Design Systems
I had the privilege of leading alongside Misty, who served as our Director of UX Architecture, Design Systems, and Design Operations. Her impact on the launch of our new global website—and the broader digital experience ecosystem—was nothing short of extraordinary.
Misty was the unsung hero behind the scenes, driving requirements development, managing handoffs, leading UAT and dev testing, and working closely with our development squads to ensure every build launched smoothly and on time. She often worked around the clock to remove blockers and keep momentum moving forward—never once letting quality slip.
One of her most transformative contributions was the creation of our global design language system. Under her leadership, we accelerated design speed by over 70% while elevating consistency, usability, and scale. Misty also helped establish our design operations function from the ground up and partnered closely with marketing ops to bring the same level of structure and clarity to their processes.
She led her team with empathy, a collaborative spirit, and a deep commitment to innovation and inclusion. Misty is among the most capable and forward-thinking design systems and design ops leaders I’ve worked with—and I wholeheartedly recommend her for any role she pursues. I truly hope our paths cross again.

I had the privilege of working under Misty Reed’s leadership for three amazing years. She exemplifies that rare kind of leader who brings equal depth to both the creative and technical dimensions of user experience. Misty possesses a remarkable ability to combine architectural clarity with genuine design intuition—a combination seldom found in a single professional.
She played a pivotal role in redesigning multiple enterprise websites from their foundations, contributing across the entire spectrum of the process: from information architecture to design to front-end development to backend CMS architecture. Additionally, Misty spearheaded the development of our enterprise-wide component library, skillfully orchestrating collaboration between design teams, engineering departments, and stakeholders to create a system that was both technically robust and widely embraced. She excels at bringing structure to complexity without compromising visual quality or user needs.
Misty has an impressive understanding of how emerging technologies such as AI can be used to generate insights, increase efficiency, and enhance product outcomes. Her capacity to bridge design thinking with technical insight makes her an invaluable strategic partner.
What impressed me as much as her technical expertise was her leadership approach—characterized by empathy, thoughtfulness, and profound respect for her team members. Misty cultivates an environment where professionals can produce their finest work while feeling genuinely supported throughout the process.
Any organization would be fortunate to have Misty directing their UX initiatives.

It is an honor and privilege to have worked with Misty Reed, who had been my manager for four incredible years at Robert Half. Working under Misty’s leadership has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career, and I’m grateful for the profound impact she’s had on my growth as an Information Architect and as a professional.
Misty is a visionary leader who seamlessly blends strategic foresight, technical brilliance, and a deep commitment to her team. As Director of Experience Architecture, she led the creation of the Luminary Design System, a transformative enterprise-wide solution that elevated our design practice. I watched in awe as she orchestrated collaboration between designers, engineers, and stakeholders, turning a complex vision into a scalable, user-centric reality. Her leadership in redesigning Robert Half’s website across 19 countries and 25 locales was nothing short of inspiring—her ability to navigate intricate challenges while keeping the user experience at the forefront was remarkable.
What truly makes Misty exceptional, though, is her heart. Her servant leadership style created a team culture where I felt valued, empowered, and motivated to do my best work. Misty’s patience and encouragement gave me the courage to push forward, and her thoughtful feedback helped me refine my skills.
Misty’s empathy extended beyond our team to every stakeholder she worked with. She fostered an inclusive environment where ideas flourished, and her calm, diplomatic approach turned even the toughest blockers into opportunities for collaboration. Her ability to inspire trust and bring clarity to complexity left everyone she worked with—myself included—better equipped and more confident.
On a personal note, Misty’s leadership made me feel seen. She took the time to understand my career aspirations and tailored opportunities to help me grow toward them. Whether it was trusting me with a high-stakes project or offering a kind word during in a stressful moment, her support was unwavering. She’s the kind of leader who doesn’t just build systems—she builds people.
Misty Reed is a rare talent: a strategic powerhouse, a technical innovator, and a compassionate mentor. Any organization would be extraordinarily fortunate to have her leading their UX initiatives. I wholeheartedly recommend her, and I know she’ll continue to inspire and elevate everyone around her.

Manager, User Experience Architecture
I feel incredibly fortunate to have had an amazing manager like Misty. As one of her direct reports for nearly three years at Robert Half, I can confidently say she is the best manager I’ve ever had.
Thanks to her patience and leadership, I experienced tremendous growth in my career as an Information Architect. Misty embodies the true essence of servant leadership — she leads with empathy, empowers her team, and always puts people first. Under her guidance, I felt confident and capable tackling any project that came my way. Her trust in me not only strengthened my skills but also helped me develop a deeper sense of agency in my work.
One moment that stands out was when I made a mistake on a project. Instead of focusing on the error, Misty reminded me that what mattered most was my attitude and willingness to make it right. That kind of support and perspective is rare, and it made a lasting impact on me.
It wasn’t just me — everyone who worked with Misty, from our immediate team to cross-functional stakeholders, felt empowered by her leadership. She has a remarkable ability to leave every person and project better than she found them. Even when faced with tough blockers, Misty handled each challenge with grace, diplomacy, and a steady calm that made all the difference.
Any team would be lucky to have Misty. I can’t recommend her highly enough.

Let’s connect for a detailed conversation.
There is more to this story, if you want to connect about working together or hear more about my work, let’s talk.
It has been both an honor and a true pleasure to work under the mentorship of Misty Reed during the design and execution of the Luminary Design Language System. Few moments in a person’s career are as impactful as the opportunity to work with someone who possesses not only immense talent but also exceptional leadership, clarity, and organizational mastery. Within our component team at Robert Half, Misty quickly earned the affectionate title of “System Oracle”—a reflection of the deep respect and trust she inspired in all of us.
Misty is, without question, one of the most intelligent, creative, and systems-driven thinkers I have ever encountered. She led our cross-functional team of architects, developers, and designers in building one of the most advanced, comprehensive, and methodical design systems in the industry today. Her influence touched every utility and customer-facing interface within the Robert Half ecosystem, and no single recommendation could ever fully capture the magnitude of her impact.
While steering the development of the Luminary Design Language System, Misty also directed the complete redesign of our public-facing website and played a key role in evolving internal employee systems and digital experiences. Her oversight extended to a wide range of initiatives, including the Akumina integration into our intranet platform—a critical project that enhanced the daily workflows of countless employees.
Misty was the very first person I had the privilege of collaborating with when I joined Robert Half nearly four years ago. I vividly remember our work together on an interactive calendar experience designed for our German employee community. I was immediately struck by her deep, nuanced understanding of every detail in the user journey—from past behaviors and legacy system constraints to the strategic implications of new business requirements. That moment was only the beginning of countless lessons I learned from her.
Misty’s brilliance is evident in every aspect of her work, and her influence has profoundly shaped my own growth as a designer and professional. Her communication skills, foresight, and ability to inspire elevated work from those around her are rare qualities that leave a lasting imprint.
To say I recommend Misty for a leadership role would be a profound understatement. Any organization fortunate enough to benefit from her expertise will not only gain a visionary systems thinker, but a transformational leader capable of driving innovation, alignment, and excellence across teams.
